TROUBLE SLEEPING? STEP-BY-STEP CURE TO INSOMNIA & HOW TO GET THE REST YOU TRULY DESERVE

Full disclosure: Sometimes, we’re just plain lazy when it comes to getting better. Sometimes, we are just too busy. So, to ensure we really get the best of this post and, to help keep us on track, we’ll ask that you pick just 1 or 2 of the 21 tips below and use it – seriously, you needn’t do ALL OF IT – faithfully doing one or two every day, is far better than trying to cram it all up into one single routine.

The Result: In no time, you’ll be truly fit and snuggling into your bed at night, fully assured of a full dose of beauty sleep – and having fun doing it.

It’s oh, I don’t know, 2am in the freaking morning, and I’m lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, and wanting to cry with frustration. I went to bed at 11 p.m., psyched to be getting a full eight hours of snooze-time, before going to work the next morning. Now, I’m just hoping to get a few hours if I’m lucky. Pretty dire thinking, but I’ve been up since 6 a.m. yesterday (not by choice); enough times in my life to know the beast of insomnia can’t always be tamed.

So what exactly is the dreadful Insomnia anyway? And how do I deal with finding a lasting solution to getting enough sleep that I deserve every night?

Insomnia is a sleep disorder that is characterized by difficulty falling and/or staying asleep. People with Insomnia exhibit one or more of the following types of symptoms:

  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep
  • Waking up too early in the morning
  • Feeling tired upon waking

Insomnia is incredibly common in Nigeria, with 30 to 40 percent of Nigerian adults experiencing some symptoms of insomnia each year. So, for all those seasoned insomniacs out there — and for anyone who occasionally can’t fall or stay asleep — we’ve rounded up some short- and long-term strategies for getting a good night’s rest. And, if you’re reading this at 2am in the morning because your mind won’t stop running?
