Tips for Healthy, Sexy Feet

  1. Check your feet every day for cuts, sores, red spots, swelling, and infected toenails. You may have foot problems, but feel no pain in your feet. Check your feet each evening when you take off your shoes.
  2. Wash your feet in warm, not hot, water. Feet tend to get dirtier and sweatier than other parts of the body, so it’s important to have good sanitary habits. If you take showers in the morning and not at night, at least make feet-washing a part of your nightly routine when you get home.
  3. Keep the skin soft and smooth. Rub a thin coat of lotion, cream, or petroleum jelly on the tops and bottoms of your feet. One way to achieve soft, moisturized feet is to rub on some lotion or petroleum jelly before bed, and slip on some socks. When you wake up in the morning, you’ll find that your feet are very soft and are free from dryness!

Do not put lotion or cream between your toes because this might cause an infection.

  1. If you can see, reach, and feel your feet, trim your toenails regularly. Trim your toenails with nail clippers after you wash and dry your feet.

Trim your toenails straight across and smooth the corners with an emery board or nail file. This prevents the nails from growing into the skin. Do not cut into the corners of the toenail.

  1. Wear the right footwear for the occasion. Your feet will stay healthier if you wear proper footwear designed to keep your feet clean, dry and at a comfortable temperature. Keep them cool in the summer with sandals and footwear that breathes. Keep them during the harmattan period with socks.

  3. Keep them dry. Athlete’s foot and other foot fungus tends to grow in moist conditions.
  4. Be more active. Being active improves blood flow to the feet. Move more by walking, dancing, swimming, or going bike riding.
