I have been on a diet for almost 2 months now-I added a lot of weight. Weighing myself scared me-I couldn’t understand how I added so much, but when I began to reflect, I knew it was my fault-late night plantain and beans, yam and eggs, rice, ice cream, pizza….I ate all these things like there was no tomorrow and I paid with  my weight size. The quest for my strict diet began with what I had for breakfast which was really stressful as the usual Nigerian breakfast consisted of yam and eggs, bread and eggs, ewa goyin and bread-all good foods but seriously unhealthy if taken without moderation.

After shedding some weight with rigorous exercise and a change in my diet, I do believe that I am the best person to help you with the best ideas for a healthy breakfast-some of which I followed and they really helped shed some weight.

Fruits. Fruits were my only option for breakfast after jogging.  A mixture of my favorite fruits was always a treat to come back to.

Boiled eggs. Eggs are a rich source of protein, make sure you have at least one a day.

Muffins. Muffins are divine. If you love to bake, this wouldn’t be a big deal-just make sure you use healthy ingredients. Have chocolate milk and fiber by eating ¼ cup of almonds or dried fruit.

Fruit and cheese. An apple  with 1 to 2 ounces of Cheddar with a toss ¼ cup of fiber- and protein-rich walnuts is a really healthy snack

A strawberry Parfait is the best breakfast for a person with a sweet tooth. Also, a yogurt parfait is one of the easiest, healthiest, and tastiest breakfasts out there is a classic fruit and yogurt parfait. It can be made with any toppings you like. Try choosing fruits that are in season for the most flavorful options

Fruit Soup. There are just two ingredients in this tasty, cool snack: Cold fresh fruit, and cold milk. Chop 1 cup of fruit of your choosing (peaches, plums, berries, and mango are delicious!) and combine in a container with 1 cup milk of choice. Keep chilled until ready to enjoy.

Scrambled Eggs with veggies.  Beat 2 eggs, throw in a microwave-safe container, add 1 handful of your favorite veggies (cherry tomatoes and spinach leaves work well), and a sprinkle of cheese. Zap the mixture for 30 seconds, stir, and cook another 30 seconds, or until eggs are solid. Throw a top on the container to eat later, or store the raw mixture in a fridge until ready to heat and eat.

Pizza. LOL! Not the unhealthy one. Take a slice of crusty bread, spread it with 3 tablespoons of low-fat ricotta, and add tomatoes. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil (about 1 teaspoon) and a little salt and pepper. Broiling is optional.

Cereal. A bowl of fiber-rich healthy flakes (about 1½ cups) with 8 ounces of low-fat milk is nearly the perfect breakfast. Make it portable by replacing the milk with lemon or vanilla yogurt and mixing it in a to-go container. Increase the fiber and vitamins by adding ¼ cup of nuts or fresh or dried fruit, such as chopped pecans or blueberries.

Oatmeal. You can mix this delicious food with almost everything, from yogurt to all kinds of fruit, and moreover it is extremely healthy. There are various recopies how to prepare oatmeal, so your breakfast will never be dull.

Toast. Grab one slice of white bread, mix one egg with a bit of milk, then dip the bread into the mixture. This is how you make yourself a delicious French toast; you can eat it topped with some fresh tomato slices, or various berries. Delicious and healthy at the same time!

Would you have ever believed that healthy food could look this good!
