How to Wash Hair Extensions

By  |

Do you know that it is possible to wash your hair extensions without damaging them, saving you time and money? Hair extensions don’t require a high level of maintenance, but a good cleaning routine will keep them looking great longer.  Because your extensions aren’t getting the moisturizing oils produced by your scalp, they have a tendency to dry out much faster. Follow these simple steps on how to wash hair extensions:

Tools:

  • Brush
  • Comb
  • Hairven shampoo
  • Hairven Conditioner
  • Water
  • Towel

Brush or comb your hair to ensure it is free of tangles.

Slowly add water to moisten your hair gradually.

Wetting your hair extensions all at once can cause them to become matted and tangled.

Brush or comb your hair as you moisten it to prevent it from tangling.

Add hairven shampoo to your hair extension.

Begin by washing the extensions from the top down. While gently work the shampoo into the strands of hair as you wash.

Rinse your hair thoroughly with clean water, working your way from the top down, being careful to remove all of the shampoo as you do.

Apply hairven conditioner.

Adding an excess of conditioner can cause your hair extensions to tangle.  Leave-in conditioners are recommended.

Use a towel to wrap your hair and apply gentle press to remove any excess water from your hair extension.

Gently comb your extensions and allow them to air dry.

Style as usual.

Quality extensions cost more, but they hold up better to washing and styling.
